The Dodgen Math Team competes in 2-3 math competitions throughout the year, striving to develop students’ problem solving abilities and higher-order thinking skills. Math team participant should pay their $25.00 dues using the MyPaymentsPlus App. This fee covers the cost of the team shirt, the AMC 8 assessment, the MathCounts (for those who qualify), the Annual District Competition, and any additional resources the Math team acquires for competitions. Students must sign-up for competitions (Links will show up below each event date). All Students must have permission to participate in off-site competitions. MathCounts Video Challenge Registration The MathCounts video challenge is an opportunity for students to create video representations of math problems that will be entered into a national competition. If you are interested in this competition you will show up on the Math Counts Video Challenge days specified on the list to the right. You will need:

ACM 8: Monday, January 22, 2024: All Middle School Students (covered by Dodgen Dues)

About the AMC 8: The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills. The AMC 8 provides an opportunity for middle school students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers. Students apply classroom skills to unique problem-solving challenges in a low-stress and friendly environment
MATH COUNTS: Participation Request Link The Math Counts Competition Series has 4 levels of competition—school, chapter, state and national. Each level of competition is comprised of 4 rounds—Sprint, Target, Team and Countdown Round. Altogether the rounds are designed to take about 3 hours to complete. PRACTICE LINK: If you are interested in this competition, please spend some time practicing with these questions. The Chapter competition will be hosted on February ? after school. Students will be notified by Mr. Gabel if they have been selected for this team.
